Fibrous casing

Fibrous casings are cellulose-based sausage casings reinforced with natural, long-fiber abaca paper. Due to their strength and dimensional stability, fibrous casings are traditionally considered among the most versatile and comprehensive packaging materials. The casings are gas-permeable, allowing for the passage of smoke, air, and moisture—qualities essential for products that require smoking, ripening, or drying. The fibrous casing undergoes a multi-stage softening treatment. This ensures that the adhesion level is perfect for every product and production process. Furthermore, adhesion levels and characteristics can be customized to suit different processing conditions, offering casings with varying degrees of cling and peelability. During the sausage-filling process, the casing must therefore be moist to optimize its performance characteristics and elasticity.
